The Hamilton Bulldogs ended their five-game losing streak with a solid 5-2 win over the Owen Sound Attack Sunday afternoon at FirstOntario Centre.
Coming hot out of the gates Arthur Kaliyev (15) struck first for the Bulldogs scoring at the 5:55 mark of the 1ST period. Nicholas Mattinen (6) closed out the scoring in the opening frame at 14:15 to make it 2-0 for the Bulldogs.
The Attack’s special teams came alive in the first half of the 2nd period scoring on the power-play and shorthanded to tie the game 2-2. The Bulldogs reclaimed the lead with a Brandon Saigeon (11) goal halfway through the period. Then it was the Bulldogs power-play that went to work with Arthur Kaliyev (16) netting his second of the game to give the Black and Gold a 4-2 lead after two periods.
Ben Garagan (3) rounded out the scoring with a 3rd period power-play goal to make the final 5-2.
Brandon Saigeon extended his point streak to nine games in a row.
Bulldogs goalie Zachary Roy made 34 saves for the win.
The Attack out-shot the Bulldogs 36-31.
Both Attack goals were scored by Nick Suzuki (12, 13).
Hamilton’s season record improves to 8-8-1 while Owen Sound drops to 9-7-0-2

The Bulldogs begin a two-game road trip Friday November 9th in Kingston. The next home game is Saturday November 24th vs the Niagara IceDogs.
