BULLDOGS COMEBACK COMES UP SHORT IN SAULT STE. MARIE

Jim Egan

The Bulldogs went 0-2 on their tour of Northern Ontario after a 4-3 loss to the Greyhounds in Sault Ste. Marie Saturday night.

That followed a 7-5 loss in Sudbury Friday night.

In the Soo, after the Bulldogs took an early lead thanks to a Matthew Strome (5) goal, the Greyhounds fought back and had a 2-1 lead by the end of the 2nd period.

Two Sault Ste. Marie goals early in the 3rd period put the Bulldogs down 4-1 until power-play goals from Strome (6) and Mackenzie Entwistle (8) cut the deficit to one with less than a minute left to play, but despite some chances, the comeback came up one goal short.

Sault Ste. Marie native Noah Zeppa served as an emergency backup for Hamilton after netminder Nick Donofrio suffered an injury in Sudbury on Friday.

The Greyhounds out-shot Hamilton 39-27.

Soo goal scorers were Keeghan Howdeshell (5, 6, 7) and Zack Trott (3).
