BULLDOGS OPEN ROUND 2 WITH 5-4 OVERTIME WIN OVER NIAGARA IN GAME 1

The Hamilton Bulldogs needed some extra time Thursday night to take Game 1 of their 2nd round series against the Niagara IceDogs with a 5-4 overtime win.
It was a fast paced, high energy start for the Bulldogs who kept the pressure on the Niagara defense. Hamilton went 0-2 on the power-play in the opening twenty minutes, but Isaac Nurse (3) took a pass and slipped it home at 17:19 to give the Black and Gold a 1-0 lead as they out-shot the IceDogs 22-6 in the 1st period.
Hamilton had a big 2nd period starting with Nicholas Caamano (3), who took it to the net and got it past Niagara goalie Stephen Dhillon to make it 2-0. The Bulldogs converted on the power-play 72-second later as Robert Thomas (4) scored on a breakaway to make it 3-0 followed by Ryan Moore (3) who’s one-timer gave Hamilton a 4-0 lead. Niagara got one back late to cut the lead after 2 to 4-1.
The 3rd period was all Niagara as the IceDogs scored three unanswered goals to tie the game 4-4 to send it to overtime.
Isaac Nurse (4) was the hero as he fought his way to the front of the IceDogs net and scored the game winner at 6:32 of overtime.
The Bulldogs out-shot the IceDogs 47-34.
