BULLDOGS SHUT-OUT IN KITCHENER
The Hamilton Bulldogs ran into a hot goaltender as they dropped a 2-0 decision in Kitchener Friday night.
The Bulldogs found out what they were in for early as they held a 12-2 advantage in shots on goal mid-way through the first period, but were not able to beat Rangers goalie Dawson Carty.
Kitchener then took advantage of a power-play and took a 1-0 lead at 14:04. That seemed to spark the Rangers offense as they out-shot the Bulldogs 11-0 over the second half of the period.
It was much the same in the second period as Carty continued to frustrate the Bulldogs including stopping Mackenzie Entwistle on a penalty shot and then robbing Michael Cramarossa on a power-play.
The Rangers then scored again with the man advantage to take a 2-0 lead to the dressing room after two periods of play.
Hamilton threw everything they had at the Rangers in the third period outshooting the home team 17-3, but again failed to beat Carty who stopped all 43 shots he faced on the night.
The Bulldogs were 0-5 on the power-play while Kitchener went 2-5.
With the loss, the Bulldogs regular season record drops to 7-3 while their road record is now 4-3.
It’s back to FirstOntario Centre to finish the weekend. The North Bay Battalion are in Saturday night for a 7 o’clock faceoff while the defending Memorial Cup Champion London Knights visit Sunday afternoon at 2 for the annual Pink in the Rink Game.
