The Hamilton Bulldogs took to the road for the first time this season Friday night and came away from the Hersey Centre in Mississauga with a 2-0 win over the Steelheads.
The Bulldogs came out with some jump in the first period and at one point early on held a 5-0 shots on goal advantage, but failed to beat Steelheads goalie Emanuel Vella. Mississauga seemed to find their legs and put the pressure on, but Bulldogs goalie Kaden Fulcher was up to the challenge as the first period ended scoreless.
Offense was still tough to come by in the second period, but the Bulldogs broke through as Matthew Strome scored his first goal of the season at 16:16. Justin Lemcke and Will Bitten picked up the assists as Hamilton took a 1-0 lead to the dressing room after forty minutes.
Mississauga pressed for the tying goal in the third period, but the Bulldogs got some insurance at 12:33 as Isaac Nurse followed up after a Connor McMichael breakaway and scored his second goal of the season to give Hamilton a 2-0 lead. For McMichael, it was his first career OHL point.
Kaden Fulcher kept the Steelheads off the board the rest of the way to preserve the 2-0 win and his third career shut-out.
