The Hamilton Bulldogs got back in the win column Saturday afternoon with a 5-2 victory in Ottawa moving Hamilton back into 1st place in the East Division and into sole possession of 1st place atop the Eastern Conference standings.
The Bulldogs got off to fast start in this one as Will Bitten (4) took a pass at the 15-second mark and got off a quick shot to make it 1-0. The Black and Gold continued the pressure as Matthew Strome (10) made it 2-0 at 6:52 as he put a low shot through the five-hole of 67’s goalie Olivier Lafreniere. Ottawa got on the board at 10:01 to cut the deficit to 2-1, but Marian Studenic (6) tipped a point-shot home for a power-play goal at 17:47 to give the Bulldogs a 3-1 lead after the 1st period.
Ottawa cut Hamilton’s lead to 3-2 with a goal at 4:30 of the 2nd period, but the Bulldogs capitalized on the power-play at 14:38 as Matthew Stome (11) banged home a rebound, his second of the game, to make it 4-2 at the end of 2.
Hamilton went into shut-down mode in the 3rd period and despite being out-shot 12-4 in the final period, it was the Bulldogs who got the only goal as Arthur Kaliyev (8) scored at 10:49 to make the final 5-2.
The line of Marian Studenic (1-3), Will Bitten (1-2) and Matthew Strome (2-0) combined for 9-points.

With the win, the Bulldogs season record improves to 12-6-1-3.
