The Hamilton Bulldogs finished off a very successful 3-game stretch by taking down the North Bay Battalion 5-1 Sunday afternoon to record five out of a possible six points.
Tim Fleischer (4) got the Bulldogs on the board first scoring the only goal of the 1st period.
Coming out hot and heavy on the power play in the 2nd period, Arthur Kaliyev (23, 24) gave the Bulldogs a 3-0 lead with a one-timer at 2:53 and his second of the game on the man advantage less than a minute later. Matthew Strome (11) found the back of the net just before the halfway point of the period to give the Bulldogs a 4-0 lead after 40 minutes.
The Battalion broke the shut-out bid of Bulldogs goalie Nick Donofrio at 7:22 of the 3rd, but Matthew Strome (12) responded with his second of the game to close out the scoring at 5-1.
Arthur Kaliyev recorded back to back four points games with two goals and two assists against the Battalion.
Nicolas Mattinen picked up an assist in his 200th OHL game and Brandon Saigeon extended his point streak to 8 games with two assists.
The Battalion goal scorer was Matthew Struthers (14).
With the win, Hamilton’s season record improves to 15-14-2-0 while North Bay falls to 11-18-1-1.

The Bulldogs are back in action Thursday December 13th when they visit the Niagara Ice Dogs and head out to Oshawa to take on the Generals on December 14th before returning home on December 15th for a re-match of last season’s OHL Championship Series against the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds in the annual Teddy Bear Toss game at FristOntario Centre.
