Brandon Taylor

The Hamilton Bulldogs are back out in in front of the Ontario Hockey League Championship Series 2-1 after a 6-5 win over the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds Monday night with over 7,300 fans in attendance at FirstOntario Centre.

It was a wild 1st period that saw the Greyhounds grab an early lead at 1:55 only to see the Bulldogs score three straight from Nicholas Caamano (7) at 4:21, a power-play goal from Arthur Kaliyev (3) at 10:08 and an even strength goal from Will Bitten (4) at 13:35. The Soo got one in the final minute to cut the Hamilton lead to 3-2 after twenty minutes.

It was the Brandon Saigeon (15, 16) show in the 2nd period as the Grimsby native scored twice, with a Sault Ste. Marie goal sandwiched in between, as the Black and Gold went into the 3rd period leading 5-3.

The Greyhounds poured it on in the 3rd, outshooting the Bulldogs 13-2 and out-scoring them 2-1, but a Marian Studenic (3) goal at 17:02 would stand up as the game winner.

The shots on goal were even at 33-33.

Greyhound goal scorers were Joe Carroll (1), Tim Gettinger (5, 6), Jack Kopacka (11) and Morgan Frost (10).
