BULLDOGS WIN SHOOTOUT IN OWEN SOUND 7-6
Defense was not top of mind Wednesday night as the Bulldogs kicked off a 3-game road trip with a 7-6 shootout win in Owen Sound.
The Attack came out with guns a blazing and had an early 10-0 advantage on the shot clock and a 2-0 lead on the scoreboard before the mid-way point of the 1st period. The Bulldogs tied it up at 2-2 with goals from Arthur Kaliyev (10) and Kade Landry (2) only to see Owen Sound take a 3-2 lead with a late goal.
Hamilton dominated the 2nd period and led 5-4 lead thanks to goals from Mackenzie Entwistle (5) and two more on the power-play from Arthur Kaliyev (11, 12) as he completed his first career hat-trick.
The back and forth battle continued in the 3rd as the Attack scored early to tie the game 5-5, followed by Mackenzie Entwistle’s (6) second of the game a little over two minutes later to make it 6-5, finished off with Owen Sound drawing even again at 6-6 to force overtime.
The Attack out-shot the Bulldogs 6-0 in overtime, but Hamilton goalie Nick Donofrio stood his ground to force a shootout. The Bulldogs got goals from Brandon Saigeon and Matthew Strome in the skills competition while only one Attack shooter could find the back of the net as the Bulldogs celebrated the 7-6 win, their 3rd in a row and their fifth win in their last six games.
Matthew Strome finished the night with four assists while Brandon Saigeon had three helpers.
Shots on goal in regulation and overtime were 47-34 in favour of Owen Sound.
Attack goal scorers were Nick Suzuki (4, 5), Aidan Dudas (6), Maxksim Sushko (1), Alan Lyszczarczyk (4) and Kevin Hancock (5).

The Bulldogs continue the road trip with stops in Sudbury Friday night and Sault Ste. Marie on Saturday night. The next home game is Friday October 26th at 7 pm against the Oshawa Generals at FirstOntario Centre.
