The Hamilton Bulldogs extended their win streak to three in a row and now have recorded points in four straight after a 4-3 overtime win Saturday over the Sarnia Sting at FirstOntario Centre.
The Sting were first on the scoreboard at 13:03 of the 1st period but less than 90-seconds later Nicolas Mattinen (13) tipped home a point shot on the power-play to tie the game 1-1.
The Bulldogs carried the momentum into the 2nd as Arthur Kaliyev (28) beat Sarnia goalie Cameron Lamour with quick low shot for a 2-1 lead and then Zachary Jackson (2) followed that one up with a nice cut to the net to make it 3-1. The Sting responded with one of their own before the period ended to cut the Hamilton lead to 3-2.
Sarnia got the only goal of the 3rd period on the power play to send the game into overtime tied 3-3.
Exactly one minute into the extra period, Arthur Kaliyev (29) went to the net and was hauled down, but the puck slipped over the goal line to give the Bulldogs the 4-3 win.
Hamilton outshot Sarnia 33-23.
With the win, Hamilton’s season record improves to 18-18-3-0 while Sarnia’s falls to 18-16-4-2.
Sting goal scorers were Mitch Eliot (9), Jamieson Rees (7) and Sean Josling (11).
