BULLDOGS ANNOUNCE NEW ASSISTANT GENERAL MANAGER
Hamilton Bulldogs President & General Manager Steve Staios announced today that Ian Meagher has been named the organization’s new Assistant General Manager.
Ian spent the past two seasons as the Head Scout with the Saginaw Spirit of the Ontario Hockey League. During his time in Saginaw, he was responsible for overseeing the OHL priority selection as well as working closely with the general manager on all player personnel decisions and statistical analysis. Prior to joining the Spirit, Ian worked as an area scout with the Barrie Colts.
“I am very excited to announce that Ian Meagher will be joining our organization as Assistant GM,” said Staios. “Ian is intelligent, driven and has a great mind for the game. He will play a big role in continuing to build our team on and off the ice through scouting, analytics, billets, education just to name a few.”
In addition to his time spent scouting at the Ontario Hockey League level, Ian worked for the last three years with the Toronto Maple Leafs in media relations. Prior to his time with the Maple Leafs, he spent two seasons working in business operations with the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League.
“I am truly excited and grateful for the opportunity to join the Hamilton Bulldogs organization. I’m eager to work with and learn from Steve and the rest of the hockey operations team he has assembled in Hamilton. I’d also like to express my gratitude to both the Toronto Maple Leafs and Saginaw Spirit for the opportunities they afforded me.”
Ian’s experience extends back to his five years at Western University in London, Ontario where he graduated from the Richard Ivey Business School with an Honours in Business Administration (HBA). His scouting career started as an area scout with the Barrie Colts while attending university. Ian was originally a draft pick of the Saginaw Spirit during the 2005 OHL Priority Selection.
