STRONG 3rd PERIOD LEADS BULLDOGS TO 5-1 WIN IN LONDON
The new-look Hamilton Bulldogs got back to work following the OHL Trade Deadline Friday night and left London with a 5-1 win over the Knights.
It looked like the Bulldogs took a couple of minutes to get used to the new line combinations as the Knights had a couple of scoring chances early. However, in his Bulldogs debut, former London captain Robert Thomas stated a play that led to a Matthew Strome (25) goal at 6:00 as Hamilton led 1-0 after the 1st period.
Hamilton had a power-play early in the 2nd period and just after London got back to full strength, Ryan Moore (13) picked up a loose puck during a goal-mouth scramble and made it 2-0. The Bulldogs got into some penalty trouble later in the period and the Knights finally got on the board at 12:09 with a power-play goal to cut Hamilton’s lead to 2-1 after forty minutes.
The Bulldogs put this one away with three unanswered goals in the 3rd period from Justin Lemcke (6), Arthur Kaliyev (17) and Nicholas Caamano (20) on the power-play to make the final 5-1.
The Bulldogs out-shot the Knights 41-30.
The London goal scorer was Nathan Dunkley (15).
1) Robert Thomas (HAM)
2) Kaden Fulcher (HAM)
3) Nicholas Caamano (HAM)
With the win, Hamilton’s season record improves to 26-9-3-3.
