Hamilton, Ontario – The Toronto Marlies defeated the Hamilton Bulldogs 3-2 in a shootout on Saturday night in front of a sold out crowd of 8,819 at Copps Coliseum.  Ryan Hamilton tied the game late and Matt Frattin scored the winner in the shootout.

The Marlies opened the scoring at 15:52 of the opening frame on a goal by Tim Connolly.  After making his way into the offensive zone, Connolly shifted to the left circle and wired a wrister past Hamilton Bulldogs starting goaltender Cedrick Desjardins.

Just 36 seconds later, Michael Bournival tied the game for the Bulldogs at 16:28.  Bournival danced into the zone and lifted a wrister over Toronto Marlies starting goaltender Mark Owuya.  After 20 minutes of play, the Marlies led the Bulldogs 11-6 in shots.

After a scoreless second stanza, Toronto led 26-8 in shots.

Hamilton native Joey Tenute gave the ‘Dogs the lead at 11:01 of the third period with his first goal as a Bulldog.  Bournival took a shot which was stopped by Owuya and Tenute jammed the rebound into the back of the net from the top of the crease.

The Marlies tied the score at 18:10 of the third frame on a goal by Ryan Hamilton.  After nothing was solved in overtime, the teams went to a shootout with Toronto edging Hamilton 3-2, giving the Marlies a 3-2 victory.  Toronto finished the game with 37 shots while the Bulldogs finished with 20.
