Hamilton, Ontario – The Hamilton Bulldogs defeated the Houston Aeros 4-2 on Saturday night at Copps Coliseum for their fourth-straight victory.  Michael Bournival recorded a natural hattrick and Dustin Tokarski stopped 24 shots for his first win as a ‘Dog in his debut.

The Bulldogs opened the scoring at 6:01 of the opening frame on a goal by Greg Pateryn who wired a shot from the right point as the puck flew by Houston Aeros starting goaltender Matt Hackett.  After 20 minutes of play, the Bulldogs led the Aeros 11-7 in shots.

The Aeros tied the score at 1:59 of the second stanza as Chad Rau cut in from the right circle and slid the puck past Hamilton Bulldogs starting goaltender Dustin Tokarski.

Houston then took the lead at 12:13 of the second period on a tally by Justin Fontaine who slid a shot from the right boards and the puck eluded Tokarski.  After 40 minutes of play, the ‘Dogs had the slight edge in shots by a count of 22-21.

Hamilton tied the score at 4:20 of the third frame on a power-play marker by Bournival.  Alexander Avtsin jammed the puck on net from the edge of the crease and eventually Bournival tucked the puck into the back of the net past Hackett.   At 15:58 of the third period, Joe Stejskal wired a shot from the right point which was tipped in front by Bournival for his second of the night which gave the ‘Dogs a 3-2 lead.  Bournival completed the natural hattrick at 19:30 of the final stanza as he launched a shot from the defensive zone into the empty net which was also a shorthanded tally.

Bournival’s hattrick was the second by a ‘Dog this season, as Gabriel Dumont turned one of his own on December 28th vs. the St. John’s IceCaps.  The Bulldogs outshot the Aeros 33-26 to finish the game.
