Hamilton, Ontario – The Grand Rapids Griffins defeated the Hamilton Bulldogs 4-1 on Sunday evening at Copps Coliseum.  Gustav Nyquist scored a goal and added two assists and Riley Sheahan notched the game-winner.

The Griffins opened the scoring at 2:38 of the opening frame on a power-play goal by Chad Billins.  The puck was thrown by Billins from the slot to Sheahan who took a shot at the bottom of the left circle which was stopped by Hamilton Bulldogs starting goaltender Robert Mayer.  The rebound came out to Billins in the slot who chipped the puck by Mayer and into the back of the net.

The Bulldogs tied the score at 1:13 of the third stanza on a power-play tally by Mike Blunden.  Nathan Beaulieu wired a shot on net from the right circle which was tipped by Blunden past Grand Rapids Griffins starting goaltender Tom McCollum.  With an assist on the play, Joey Tenute extended his point streak to a Bulldogs season-high seven games.

Grand Rapids pulled ahead at 5:17 of the third period as Brett Skinner slid the puck to Nyquist at the right point who rifled a shot which was tipped in front by Sheahan past Mayer.  Nyquist gave the Griffins a two-goal lead at 16:43 of the third frame as Skinner feathered Nyquist a pass which he one-timed over Mayer from the right circle.  Just 17 seconds later, Jeff Hoggan slapped a shot behind Mayer from the top of the right circle.  The Griffins outshot the Bulldogs 48-22.
