The Hamilton Bulldogs are 2-0 so far this weekend after a 2-1 shoot-out win Saturday night in Barrie.
The two teams traded chances in the first period, but it was the Colts that opened the scoring at 16:02 with a goal from Andrei Svechnikov (3). The Bulldogs out-shot the Colts 9-6 in the opening twenty minutes, but trailed 1-0.
Hamilton’s penalty killers came up big in the second period as Barrie went 0-4, including coming up empty on a lengthy 5-on-3 advantage. Shortly after, Matthew Strome (2) scored to tie the game 1-1. Will Bitten and Arthur Kaliyev picked up the assists. For Kaliyev, it was first career OHL point.
There was no scoring in the third period or in overtime as the game went to a shoot-out. Both Bulldogs shooters, Arthur Kaliyev and Will Bitten beat Colts goalie Christian Propp. Meantime, Hamilton netminder Kaden Fullcher was beaten by Andrei Svechnikov, but stopped both Alexey Lipanov and Lucas Chiodo.
The Colts out-shot the Bulldogs 33-28.

With the win, Hamilton is now 2-1 on the season while Barrie drops to 3-1-0-1.
The Bulldogs wrap-up the weekend Sunday afternoon at 2 pm as they hot the Kingston Frontenacs at FirstOntario Centre.
