The Hamilton Bulldogs began a home-and-home series with the Steelheads on Friday night by dropping a 4-3 decision in Mississauga.
The Bulldogs opened the scoring at 5:04 of the 1st period as Mackenzie Entwistle (3) let a quick shot go that fooled Mississauga goalie Jacob Ingham. The Steelheads tied the game 1-1 on a power-play and though they had taken a 2-1 lead in the final minute, only to have the goal overturned by video review because of an offside.
Hamilton took a 2-1 lead at 2:41 of the 2nd period as Jake Gravelle (1) scored on the power-play, his first OHL goal. This time it was the Bulldogs who had a goal overturned by video review because of an offside that would have made it 3-1, instead Mississauga tied the game 2-2 just over a minute later.
Early in the 3rd, the Steelheads took a 3-2 lead at 1:13 only to see Hamilton tie the game at 3-3 on a Liam Van Loon (2) goal at 7:36. It looked like the game was going to overtime, until a defensive breakdown by the Bulldogs led to the Steelheads game winning goal at 18:31.
Shots on goal were even 35-35.
Mississauga goal scorers were Thomas Harley (2), Keean Washkurak (3), Nicholas Canade (1) and Michael Little (4).
1) Nicholas Canade (MISS)
