BULLDOGS DROP 5-4 DECISION TO OTTAWA IN GAME 2

The Ottawa 67’s took home-ice advantage away from the Hamilton Bulldogs with a 5-4 thriller Sunday night to tie up the 1st round series 1-1.

The Bulldogs came out flying in the 1st period and it resulted in an early goal as Will Bitten (1) hammered home a rebound at 1:03 for a 1-0 Hamilton lead. The 67’s were back on their heels and didn’t get their first shot on goal until the 6:10 mark with Hamilton leading on the shot clock 8-0.

Ottawa was much better in the 2nd period and got the only goal at 9:28 as the period ended 1-1.

That set up one of the wildest 3rd periods seen in some time as the 67’s out-scored the Bulldogs 4-3. The two team traded goals in the first 5-minutes with Justin Lemcke (1) tying the game at 2-2 at 4:48. Ottawa then jumped out to a 4-2 lead only to see the Black and Gold battle back to tie the game 4-4 on goals by Riley Stillman (1) and Brandon Saigeon (3) on the power-play at 16:56. The 67’s then got a late power-play of their own with Sam Bitten (2) stepping up as hero for Ottawa with the game winning goal at 17:59.

The Bulldogs out-shot the 67’s 35-30.

Ottawa goal scorers were Shaw Boomhower (1, 2), Sasha Chmelevski (1), Travis Barron (1) and Sam Bitten (2).
