The Hamilton Bulldogs kicked off a 4-game road trip Wednesday night with a 2-1 loss in Owen Sound.
The Bulldogs had some jump in the first couple of shifts of the 1st period but came away empty handed. The Attack weathered that initial flurry and then opened the scoring at 3:29 as Kaden Fulcher made the first save, but the rebound found its way to the back of the net. Hamilton tied the game 1-1 at 13:09 as Matthew Strome (26) found a loose puck behind the Attack goalie and made sure it made it over the goal line.
Owen Sound got the only goal of the 2nd period at 10:19 as sniper Nick Suzuki went glove side to make it 2-1.
The Attack went into protect mode in the 3rd period and it worked as Hamilton was turned back time and time again and when they did get opportunities, Owen Sound goalie Mack Guzda shut the door to preserve the 2-1 win.
Will Bitten’s assist on the Bulldogs goal was the 200th point of his OHL career.
Owen Sound out-shot Hamilton 27-22.
Attack goal scorers were Jackson Doherty (3) and Nick Suzuki (19).
1) Mack Guzda (OS)
2) Maksim Sushko (OS)
3) Marian Studenic (HAM)
The loss drops the Bulldogs season record to 27-10-3-3.
