A gutsy effort by the Hamilton Bulldogs as they downed the defending Memorial Cup Champion Windsor Spitfires 2-0 Sunday afternoon at FirstOntario Centre.  With five regulars out of the line-up, six when Jake Murray left the game in the second period with an injury, the Bulldogs put an end to Windsor’s 4-game winning streak.

Neither team had many quality chances in a scoreless 1st period, but Hamilton connected on a power-play at 13:10 of the 2nd as Brandon Saigeon (7) let go a quick wrist-shot to give the Black and Gold a 1-0 lead. Much like they did in Saturday night’s 4-2 win over Oshawa, the Bulldogs shut things down in the 3rd period as Windsor couldn’t get any offensive pressure and Arthur Kaliyev (4) scored into the empty net at 18:36 to secure the 2-0 win.

Hamilton goalie Nick Donofrio recorded his first ever OHL shut-out in just his third start of the season.

The Spitfires out-shot the Bulldogs 23-17.

The Bulldogs reach the quarter point of the regular season with a record of 8-5-1-3 while Windsor drops to 11-6-1-0.

Hamilton is back in action on Friday November 10th as they host the Erie Otters at 7:30 pm at FirstOntario Centre.
