The Hamilton Bulldogs snapped a four-game losing streak with a 4-2 home-ice win over the Oshawa Generals Saturday night.
The Bulldogs came out with a strong forecheck in the opening period and it paid off as Zachary Jackson (1) was the recipient of some hard work from Ben Garagan and Isaac Nurse as Hamilton went up 1-0. The Bulldogs power-play came alive as Riley McCourt (1) scored at 17:38 to make it 2-0 for the Black and Gold. Just :38 seconds later, Hamilton upped the lead to 3-0 as Justin Lemcke (3) blasted one home from the point.
The Generals got a quick start to the 2nd period scoring a short-handed goal at :09 to cut the Hamilton lead to 3-1 and then made it a 1-goal game at 2:11. The Bulldogs got the momentum back late in the period as Ben Garagan (1) put a backhand past Oshawa goalie Cole Ceci at 17:36 to make it 4-2 for the home team after forty minutes.
The Bulldogs shut it down in the 3rd period and despite the Generals hitting two goal posts, they had few other good chances as the final twenty minutes went scoreless.
Hamilton out-shot Oshawa 33-23.

With the win, Hamilton’s season record improves to 7-5-1-3 while the Generals drop to 8-7-2-0.
The Bulldogs are back in action Sunday afternoon at 2 pm as they host the Windsor Spitfires at FirstOntario Centre.
