HAMILTON, ONTARIO. The Hamilton Bulldogs would hit three goal posts and pepper 40 shots on Hunter Jones who recorded his 4th shutout of the season while Declan Chisholm’s 4 assists helped lead the Peterbough offense to an 8-0 victory over the Bulldogs.

The first period in Peterborough really went against the run of play for the Bulldogs as they would outshoot & out chance the Petes but find themselves trailing the game 3-0. J.R. Avon would open the scoring with his 4th of the year at 2:55 hopping on a deflected puck and besting Marco Costantini from the slot before Nick Robertson would extend the lead to two at 7:36 taking a drop pass from Semyon Der-Arguchintsev at the top of the left-wing circle and recording his 51st of the year. Finally, Akil Thomas would record his 21st of the season finding a puck in the slot after a clearing attempt had been fanned on and scoring Peterborough’s third of the frame at 12:15. The Bulldogs would put 16 shots on Hunter Jones goal, including a penalty shot for captain Isaac Nurse, in addition to several strong chances that would just miss the net but still give the Bulldogs hope that a comeback could be in their grasp over the next 40 minutes.

Peterborough would continue to extend the lead in the second as Brady Hinz would score a pair in the frame, first on the power-play at 7:47, a shot from Zach Gallant would roll through Marco Costantini and appeared to be kicked into the Bulldogs net but a challenge of the call would be unsuccessful giving Peterborough the 4-0 lead on Hinz’s 13th of the season. At 18:26 of the period, despite the Bulldogs again pressing the play into the Peterborough zone, Keegan McMullen would fire the puck on the Hamilton goal, Costantini would stick it aside but Hinz would collect around the back of the net and roof the puck on the other side to give the Petes a 5-0 lead into the locker room after 40 minutes on his 14th of the season.

The final frame wouldn’t be any kinder to the Bulldogs as the Petes would add another three on the board, Liam Kirk would strike on the power-play at 9:05 for his 21st of the season from Declan Chisholm to give the Petes a 6-0 lead. Hamilton would continue to battle and create chances but Hunter Jones would hold the door shut before two late goals would put the game on ice. Semyon Der-Arguchintsev would record his 9th of the season at 17:32 from Chisholm and Hudson Wilson before Zach Gallant would finish the night with his 31st of the year from Liam Kirk & Jack York, securing the 8-0 shutout victory, Hunter Jones’ 4th on the year.

The Hamilton Bulldogs will return to action hosting the Saginaw Spirit on Saturday, March 7th at FirstOntario Centre for the Bulldogs Foundation Game at 4:00pm.
