Dear Players, Fans, Billets, and Staff,
First and foremost, I would like to wish good health to everyone. We are amid unprecedented times and it’s critically important for us to follow all necessary guidelines. In saying that, this is certainly a message I had hoped would never need to be written.
To our players, this was not the ending that anyone planned for or wanted. For that I am truly sorry. I can assure you that everything was done at the league level to try and find some way to avoid this result. This is about more than hockey. The health and well-being of people within our community and beyond is of the utmost importance. We must do our part to help. I feel fortunate to have been around each one of you this year. We had our ups and downs, but the resolve you showed was tremendous. Although we won’t get the opportunity to compete together through the playoffs, this is a group I won’t soon forget.
To the best fans in junior hockey, your passion and dedication to our players is second to none. Your consistent support is what drives us every day. As we continue to work towards our next OHL Championship, we look forward to having you back at FirstOntario Centre cheering on our boys soon.
To our wonderful billet families, thank you for another year of going above and beyond with our players. We are very fortunate to have you as part of our Hamilton Bulldogs family. You provide a home away from home for each of our boys and for that we are extremely grateful.
To our part-time, full-time and arena staff, thank you for another year of Bulldogs hockey. The energy and passion you bring to FirstOntario Centre each day is infectious. These are trying times for everyone, but we will come through this together and stronger than ever.
This is a tough one. To our overage players.
Bradey (Johnson), we were fortunate to have you put on a Bulldogs jersey – even if it was just one season. Your leadership and work ethic helped drive our younger players. Our organization is better for having had you a part of it.
Kade (Landry), watching your game grow over the last two and a half seasons has been fun to watch. You’ve committed 100% of yourself to our organization. For that, I thank you. In addition, your leadership has been a great example for our younger players. Your passion and energy will be missed. You’ll forever be part of bringing a championship to our great city in 2018.
Isaac (Nurse), there isn’t anything I can write here that will do your impact proper justice. Hamilton through-and-through. From watching 207 players get drafted ahead of you, to playing your first OHL game, to winning an OHL championship in 2018 and captaining your hometown team this past season. Simply, thank you. Thank you for providing inspiration to local minor hockey players. Thank you for setting an example for anyone who strives to defy the odds. I know your impact will be remembered by our fans, staff and players here for years to come.
As we look forward to the start of another season at FirstOntario Centre, we wish good health to everyone reading this message. Together we will get through this. During these unprecedented times, it’s critically important that we lean on each other and support one another. Here in Hamilton, we are a family. Like our captain, we persevere in the face of adversity. Let’s continue to do our part for the betterment of others. A small change can make a lasting difference. Can’t wait to see you all back at the rink soon.
