On the heels of adding 16 prospects to the organization by way of the 2021 OHL Priority Selection Draft, the Hamilton Bulldogs added another trio of prospects through the 2021 OHL U18 Draft on Wednesday.
Leading the line for the Bulldogs’ U18 Draft class is Toronto Jr. Canadiens U18 netminder Markus Stoikos. Taken with the 7th overall selection Stoikos presents a towering figure between the pipes, standing 6’4”. Coming to the Bulldogs off of an incredible minor midget season in 2019-20 which saw him post a 26-5 record with 1.23 GAA & .924 SV% while posting an eye-popping 12 shutouts. Combining exceptional lateral movement with his size, Stoikos is one to watch for moving forward in the Bulldogs crease.
Taken with the 34th overall selection in the 2nd round the Bulldogs would welcome Tage Gallant to the organization. From the Elgin-Middlesex Chiefs U18 organization, Gallant brings a tremendous work ethic to the game combined with high end hockey IQ and an electrifying talent level. Skating with the London Jr. Knights in the 2019-20 season, Gallant would finish 3rd on the team in scoring recording 11 goals & 18 assists for 29 points in 32 games, while adding another 2 goals & 2 assists for 4 points in 9 playoff games.
With the 44th overall selection in the 3rd round the Bulldogs would look local, bringing Hamilton Jr. Bulldogs U18 defender Joshua Sordo to the organization. The rugged blueliner out of Ancaster spent the 2019-20 season with the Brantford 99ers U16 program recorded 4 goals & 11 assists for 15 points in 33 games while adding 6 assists across 12 playoff games. Sordo can turn defense to offense in the blink of an eye with a brilliant first pass from his own end making him an all-around talent from the backend.
