The Hamilton Bulldogs organization is eagerly awaiting the NHL Entry Draft, starting this Friday, July 21st. Three Bulldogs players — Arthur Kaliyev, Navrin Mutter and Tag Bertuzzi — have been listed among top North American Skaters by NHL Central Scouting.
Arthur Kaliyev has been on NHL radar since his rookie season and came in as the 7th ranked North American Skater and the top OHL prospect expected to go in the 1st round of the upcoming NHL Draft.
Bulldogs fans are no stranger to Kaliyev’s dynamic play in his sophomore season. Having been dubbed the “Ovi of the OHL” by Bulldogs teammate and 2018 Philadelphia Flyers draft pick, Matt Strome, Kaliyev will bring his elite shooting talent to whichever NHL team drafts him.
Projected to go in the 1st round on Friday, Kaliyev has the potential to become the Bulldogs highest-ever NHL draft pick. His 51-goal, 102-point season lands Kaliyev among an elite class of OHL alumni, including John Tavares, Steven Stamkos, Jeff Skinner and Alex Debrincat, who scored 50 goals in their 17-year-old season.
Navrin Mutter, who didn’t start this past season on the list, first appeared on the Mid-Term rankings in January and goes into the draft as the 189th ranked North American Skater.
Tag Bertuzzi has had the attention of NHL scouts since he was the 2nd overall pick in the 2017 OHL Priority Selection, but injuries have kept him off the final 2019 rankings. However, NHL Central Scouting does have Bertuzzi listed as one of four players on the Limited Viewing list.
Bulldogs fans can catch the NHL Draft airing live on Sportsnet Ontario on June 21st and 22nd. Follow the Bulldogs on Twitter, Facebook & Instagram for more NHL Draft week content!
