HAMILTON 4 – SAGINAW 3
Arizona Coyotes prospect MacKenzie Entwistle set up the tying and winning goals in his return from injury as the Hamilton Bulldogs erased a 3-0 deficit to take a 4-3 win in Saginaw. Entwistle suited up in his first game since Nov. 2nd and helped the CHL’s eighth ranked Bulldogs improve to 15-6-2-3 with their third straight win. Rookie forward Arthur Kaliyev (10) extended his point streak to 11 games, scoring the game winner with 5:27 left in the third period as the Bulldogs scored four unanswered. New Jersey Devils prospect Marian Studenic (8, 9) scored twice while Isaac Nurse (7) also found the back of the net and Matthew Strome picked up two assists. Hamilton outshot Saginaw 42-20, ending the Spirit’s five-game winning streak while also bringing their seven-game home winning streak to a close. Kyle Bollers (5), Ryan Stepien (2) and Cole Coskey (13) scored for Saginaw while Evan Cormier made 38 saves. The Spirit are 12-10-3-0 on the campaign and have won seven of their last 10 games.
WINDSOR 5 – NORTH BAY 2
Cole Purboo (6, 7) was in on every goal, netting two goals and three assists as the Windsor Spitfires defeated the visiting North Bay Battalion 5-2. Purboo’s career high five points headlined the Windsor effort while rookie Mathew MacDougall (6, 7) scored two goals of his own and added a helper. Blueliner Thomas Stevenson (2) rounded out Windsor’s scoring while Michael DiPietro made 31 saves in goal. New York Rangers prospect Sean Day collected three assists as Windsor improved to 14-10-1-0. The Battalion fall to 8-15-3-0 as Luke Burghardt (10) and Brad Chenier (8) scored in the loss for North Bay.
SAULT STE. MARIE 7 – PETERBOROUGH 5
The Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds extended their winning streak to 12 games, improving to a league best 21-3-2-0 record as Conor Timmins (4, 5) and Ryan Roth (6, 7) both scored twice in a 7-5 road victory in Peterborough. The see-saw affair saw the Greyhounds stay one step ahead of the host Petes throughout the contest, outshooting them 50-32 while going 3-for-6 on the power play. Jack Kopacka (15) had a goal and two assists in the win while Morgan Frost (13) and Barrett Hayton (10) also scored. Frost finished the game with a goal and three helpers while defencemen Rasmus Sandin and Mac Hollowell both collected two assists. Zach Gallant (6), Cole Fraser (1), Jonathan Ang (14), Nikita Korostelev (10) and Logan DeNoble (14) provided goals for Peterborough as the Petes fell to 14-13-0-1.
BARRIE 6 – MISSISSAUGA 3
Ben Hawerchuk (4, 5) scored twice to lead the Barrie Colts over the visiting Mississauga Steelheads 6-3. The Central Division-leading Colts improved to 15-7-2-1 as Ryan Suzuki (3), Tyler Tucker (1), Lucas Chiodo (10) and Jaden Peca (3) also found the back of the net while Justin Murray, TJ Fergus and Jason Willms all collected two assists. Leo Lazarev made 24 saves in goal as the Colts handed the Steelheads their fourth straight loss. Vegas Golden Knights prospect Nicolas Hague (14, 15) scored for the seventh time in the past six games while Albert Michnac (15) had a goal and an assist. The Steelheads fall to 11-14-0-1 on the season, 10 points back of first place Barrie in the division.
NIAGARA 5 – ERIE 2
Bradey Johnson (4, 5) scored twice while Vegas Golden Knights prospect Ben Jones had three assists, helping the Niagara IceDogs defeat visiting Erie 5-2. Oliver Castleman (5), Kirill Maksimov (15) and Danial Singer (8) scored additional Niagara goals as the IceDogs outshot the Otters 41-25 and improved to 12-8-3-2. The IceDogs earn their third straight win and sit four points back of first place Barrie in the Central. The Otters fall to 10-13-2-1 as Gera Poddubnyi (8) and Kyle Maksimovich (12) both scored and Taylor Raddysh collected two assists.
